Drawing Squares

Drawing Squares is a logic game that will surprise you with how much tension can hide behind such a simple idea. It takes the familiar pen and paper pastime of Dots and Boxes and turns it into a sharp little contest of nerve and planning.

You probably remember this one from school. Two players, a grid of dots, and a pencil. You draw a line between two neighboring dots, then your opponent does the same.

Complete the fourth side of a square and you claim it, then you go again. The rules take seconds to learn. The decisions stay interesting for a very long time.

What makes it work is the trap hidden in the middle of it. Every line you draw gives something to the other player. Early on you can play fast and loose, but at some point the board turns into a puzzle where one careless move hands over a whole chain of squares.

Knowing when to take a box and when to leave it, when to open a long run and when to keep the board tight, is where the game lives.

Drawing Squares keeps that tension intact. Matches are quick, so you can play a few in a row, and each one teaches you something about the way you think. It works just as well as a casual break or as a duel with someone who takes it seriously.

ZOXOK is proud to publish Drawing Squares. We like games that respect your time and reward careful thinking, and this one does both.
