Short Life

Short Life is a platformer built around a simple but nasty idea: getting to the exit is only half the job. You control a hapless hero and steer him through a series of levels, and the usual jumps and sprints are all there. The difference is that every mistake leaves a mark on his body.

Spikes, saw blades, and other hazards are scattered everywhere, and clipping one of them costs your hero a limb. Lose an arm or a leg and he keeps moving, but the way he moves changes. His balance shifts, his jumps get awkward, and a path that felt easy a moment ago suddenly turns against you.

Push your luck too far and there is nothing left of him to save.

That is the tension at the heart of the game. You are not just trying to reach the finish line, you are trying to arrive in one piece. The levels invite reckless speed, then punish it.

Careful players learn to read each room, time their jumps, and accept that a safe route is often slower than the obvious one.
